The Importance of Spaying and Neutering Your Pets

Spaying and neutering your pets are essential steps in ensuring their long-term health and well-being. These procedures offer numerous benefits, such as preventing serious health issues, improving behavior, and helping reduce the number of stray animals in the community.  By choosing to spay or neuter your pet, you’re making a responsible and compassionate decision that helps create a safer and healthier environment for all.

Scheduling and Reservations

Please be mindful of drop-off and pick-up arrangements when making your reservation. Last-minute cancellations are problematic for both the spay/neuter coordinator and the clinics. Proper planning ensures the smooth operation of the program and allows others the opportunity to use this service.

  • Pets are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis from a waiting list.
  • Due to limited space in the van, it’s crucial that you show up on time or cancel at least 48 hours in advance.
  • If you cancel your appointment, you will be moved to the end of the waiting list.
  • Lynchburg Humane Society’s Spay/Neuters are typically on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
  • Augusta County SPCA’s Spay/Neuters are typically on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
