How to Donate
There are many ways you can help support the pets in our care! Whether you prefer to donate online through our wish lists or drop off items in person, your contributions make a huge difference.
Order Online and Ship Directly
If you’re making purchases online, you can have them shipped directly to us at Humane Society/SPCA of Nelson County, 29 Stagebridge Road, Lovingston, VA 22949.
Please remember to add a note to your order so we know who the donation is coming from.
Drop Off Donations in Person
We welcome in-person donations anytime we’re open.

Drop-off Procedure
Please place all items in the area to the left of the front door. There should be enough space for both small and large items. However, do not place anything that might block access to the front door. If you have questions about placement or need a receipt for the donation, please ask the staff person at the front desk.

Food & Treats
Providing our animals with nutritious food and delicious treats is essential for their health and happiness. Donations of food and treats help us ensure that every animal in our care receives the proper nutrition they need.
We prefer foods made in the U.S. and brand-name foods over generic, but we gratefully accept all brands.
We do not accept open or expired food.

To keep our animals happy and comfortable, we rely on donations of bedding, toys, and other comfort items. These donations help create a cozy and stimulating environment for our furry friends.

Keeping our shelter clean and running smoothly requires a steady supply of cleaning and office materials. Your donations of these items help us maintain a safe and organized space for both animals and staff.

Items We’re Unable to Accept
To ensure the safety and well-being of our animals, there are certain items we cannot accept. Please refer to the list below to see which items we’re unable to take as donations.
- Opened or expired food
- Used litter boxes
- Used pillows
- Damaged or unsafe toys
- Medicine or health supplements
- Clothes meant for humans, not pets
- Human shampoo or soap
- Mattresses or furniture.
