Help to Heal Program

Providing Critical Care for Animals in Need

We’re dedicated to providing the best possible care for all animals that come through our doors. Unfortunately, many of these animals require medical attention that goes beyond our normal budget capacity. The Help to Heal Program was established to support the growing number of animals in need of advanced medical care. Your generous donations allow us to provide life-saving treatments, medications, and surgeries for animals with treatable health issues. Together, we can make sure these animals receive the care they need.

Why We Need Your Help

We’re seeing more and more animals coming to us needing advanced medical care. Each month, we spend between $5,000 and $8,000 on medications, vaccines, and treatments. These costs often go beyond our usual budget, making it hard to provide the care every animal needs.

That’s where you come in. Your support is vital to help us continue offering life-saving surgeries, treatments, and medications to these vulnerable animals. By contributing to the Help to Heal Program, you’re helping us bridge the gap and give these animals the healthy, happy futures they deserve.

Our Trusted Veterinary Partners

We rely on our local veterinary services and clinics for crucial surgeries, treatments, and medications that help our animals heal and thrive. Their expertise and generosity are essential to the success of the Help to Heal Program, ensuring every animal receives top-notch care. We are deeply grateful to our veterinary partners for their ongoing support and dedication.

Meet Sweet Pixie — The Mighty Little Terrier Mix

Pixie came to Nelson SPCA with parvovirus, a highly contagious and often deadly virus that most commonly affects puppies. Traditional treatment protocols can range from $ 3-5K per puppy. Thanks to a generous benefactor, Pixie received a new life-saving injection, and is serving as an emotional support pet to a loving and deeply deserving family who suffered the devastating loss of a child.

Meet the Indomitable Snoopy — Who Is Completely Blind

This phenomenal feline was brought to Nelson SCA as a result of our TNR (trap-neuter-release) program, which provides community cats with spay/neuter surgery and rabies shots.

It was clear that Snoopy could not open his eyes. Snoopy had to see a veterinary ophthalmology specialist, who was able to determine Snoopy was suffering from enophthalmos, a condition where his eyeballs were sunken into the head. This can result from various traumatic events, such as extreme dehydration or being hit by a car.

Snoopy required delicate surgery to prevent further damage. He now lives a joyful life with a kind and compassionate family who makes sure he is well-fed, safe, and free to enjoy the good life with a large group of very spoiled cat and dog siblings.

Your Generosity Matters

Your support means the world to us and the animals we care for. Every donation, no matter the size, brings hope and healing to our furry friends in need. Together, as a compassionate community, we can make a significant impact on their lives.

The animals here rely on the kindness of people like you. Your generosity not only provides essential medical care but also brings love and a brighter future to these deserving animals. We are deeply grateful for your support and for being a part of our extended family. Thank you for helping us create a healthier, happier future for all the animals in our care.
